Art Spiegelman is a writer, illustrator, and advocate for comics as an adult literary medium. His Holocaust narrative Maus received a Pulitzer Prize, and as co-editor of Arcade and Raw, he helped pioneer comics as a meaningful cultural forum. He has written and illustrated for The New Yorker, The New York Times, Playboy, and other publications. His books include In the Shadow of No Towers; Breakdowns: Portrait of the Artist as a Young %@&*!; and the children’s book Open Me… I’m a Dog. In 2005, Spiegelman was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people. He’s a graduate of the High School of Art and Design in New York City.
