The Funniest Show on Broadway
with some of the city's coolest comics
Offered in partnership with Carolines on Broadway
Wednesday, January 24, 2018

Everyone (especially teachers) should laugh more—in fact, it ought to be a law. But since it’s not, The Academy for Teachers, in partnership with Carolines Comedy Club, is treating Academy Fellows to a night of stand-up. The staff at Carolines handpicked New York’s best comics for this showcase, which will be hosted by Usama Siddiquee, seen at left, and will feature Robyn Schall, Katie Hannigan, Michelle Buteau, Francis Ellis, Frank Liotti, and Sam Rubinoff.

Carolines on Broadway is one of the most famous venues for stand-up in the world. This New York institution opened in a small cabaret in Chelsea in 1982. Early performers included Jerry Seinfeld, Billy Crystal, Sandra Bernhard, and Jay Leno. Its second location, way downtown, became the set for Carolines Comedy Hour, which ran for six seasons on A&E, with Jon Stewart and Dave Attell on the writing staff. Its current location, on the Great White Way in Times Square, hosts the biggest names in comedy seven nights a week, 365 days a year.
