Hang out with the great poet Taylor Mali, whose performance of his poem What Teachers Make is the most passionate tribute to teachers in history. Taylor will talk about metaphor before asking participants to write some of their own.
Taylor Mali is a former school teacher and one of the few poets in the world who does not have a job other than poet. He’s a master of Spoken Word poetry, a native New Yorker, and the author of several books of poetry, most recently of The Whetting Stone, Bouquet of Red Flags, and What Teachers Make: In Praise of the Greatest Job in the World. He won best solo performance for Teacher! Teacher! a one-man show about poetry, teaching, and math at the Comedy Arts Festival and is a past president of Poetry Slam, Inc. which oversees all poetry slams in North America.
