Introduction to the Potter’s Wheel
with Megan McMahon
at Supermud Pottery
Saturday, November 16, 2019
6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Tickets are not yet available.

Get down and dirty with a potter’s wheel! Enjoy the relaxation of playing with clay—lots and lots of clay—as you learn the basics of “throwing” a vessel from Academy Fellow Megan McMahon. The pottery you make during the class will be fired, glazed, and available for pickup at a later date. Supermud Pottery is owned and operated by the ever-generous retired teacher and superwoman, Iva Smith. The Academy for Teachers will cover the firing fee for your first piece.

Megan McMahon is in her seventeenth year as a New York City public school teacher. She’s a founding faculty member of The Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School, where she teaches art and English. A graduate of Barnard College and Fordham University, Megan received the Gaynor McCown Excellence in Teaching Award presented by NYC Outward Bound Schools.
