Angels in America
with Oskar Eustis
Offered in partnership with The Public Theater
Friday, November 30, 2012

Using Angels in America as our text, we will examine the relationship between content and form, dramatic action in an epic structure, the dramatization of contemporary political issues, and the dialectics of change. We will also explore the relationship between the written text and the act of performance, with both practical and theoretical applications.

Oskar Eustis is the artistic director of The Public Theater which brings us Shakespeare in the Park and a fresh slate of new American plays each season. Eustis has dedicated his career to the development of new plays and worked with many contemporary masters of the form. He has a particular familiarity with Angels in America, which he commissioned and then directed for its world premiere at The Mark Taper Forum. It went on to win the Pulitzer Prize.
