Cory Booker is an American politician and the junior United States Senator from New Jersey, in office since 2013. Previously he served as mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013. He attended Stanford University, where he played college football and received a B.A. in political science and an M.A. in sociology, before earning a Rhodes Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford, and a J.D. from Yale Law School. He is currently a member of the board of trustees at Teachers College, Columbia University, and sits on the board of advisers of the political action committee Democrats for Education Reform. He has received honorary degrees from Brandeis University, Williams College, Bard College, and a number of other colleges and universities. In 2017, he published United: Thoughts on Finding Common Ground and Advancing the Common Good.
